Functional Capacity Evaluation
- A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a comprehensive battery of tests, measures, practices and observations that are combined to objectively determine the ability of the evaluated to function in a variety of circumstances.
- Will determine fitness to work following a prolonged medical leave.
- Are necessary to assess a patient’s ability as compared to occupational demands to improve safety with job task performance and reduce the risk of re-injury.
- Assist in the identification of changes to workload and/or ergonomic measures that the employer may implement in an effort to accommodate an employee with a disability or medical condition.
- Are utilized to determine eligibility for disability insurance or pension eligibility in the event that an employee is permanently unable to return to work.
- Will determine the presence and degree of disability so that a judicial entity can assign or deny financial and medical disability benefits.
